Baja Cheese Ranch and Wine Getaway
Located 40 kilometers from Ensenada, this famous, historical, and family owned cheese ranch has witnessed the traditional production process of cheese in the region since 1911. The cheeses are made from unpasteurized milk with no preservatives to give a distinguished craft flavor to the cheese. Currently the farm produces 400 kilos of cheese a day which can be tasted in their famous cava (the largest cheese cellar in Baja and perhaps Latin America.) Here they produce other organic dairy products such as butter made with milk from their farm cows, fed the traditional way with no hormones or additives.

As part of our trip, visitors can enjoy a tour of the ranch area which includes the production of different cheeses, cattle breeding, the butter making process, as well as the ricotta cheese process. Guests are then invited to visit the underground cheese cellar where they will enjoy a tasting of 7 cheeses, accompanied by a glass of wine, and tapas including freshly made jam. The cellar can store up to 10,000 cheeses and has a tasting area with seating of up to 40 people. To top it all off, you will enjoy a magnificent lunch at their famed restaurant located on the ranch as well. Guests will enjoy a menu of Mediterranean artisanal cuts, cuisine, and wine that represent the best in the region. Along with the seal of the family in their wide variety of cheeses, breads, and spices.

Finally, before heading back to San Diego, the tour will take you to Valle de Guadalupe for a visit to one of the best local family owned wineries for more wine tasting and a tour of the winemaking process. This tour is a particular favorite of ours, and of guests, and is highly recommended.
