Founded in 2005 Hacienda La Lomita has an interesting story like so many places in Valle de Guadalupe.  The Perez Castro family, originally from Mexicali came to Valle de Guadalupe to escape the oppressive heat of the inland Mexicali.  During a birthday family cookout while grilling up some carne asada, Fernando Perez's father was gifted a hectare of land by his mother for his birthday.  Afterwards he was skillfully convinced to buy the other nine hectares, and so the story began.

Owner and proprietor Fernando Perez Castro has been in on the process since the beginning.  Originally an ornamental vineyard, they began planting right when they arrived in Valle de Guadalupe.  Fernando himself said that to have a place in Valle de Guadalupe and not plant some vines and make wine (even if just for friends) would be madness.  First planting Merlot vines Fernando took a short course on wine at La Escuelita, the wine school formed by the famous Hugo d'Acosta.  This was when he realized he needed help with the wine making process and in turn recruited his childhood friend Reynaldo Rodriguez.

Together Fernando and Reynaldo have created a seamless integration of traditional vinification mixed with new technologies in wine making to create unique and bold flavored wines.  Their different varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Grenache, Merlot, and Zinfandel.  For example, their Grenache on offer is a vintage called Pagano.  Upon smelling and tasting Pagano you will detect hints of mint, blueberries, strawberries, and jaimaica flowers as they envelop your palate and engulf your olfactory senses.

Hacienda La Lomita has already been winning awards for its unique and bold wines and is most certainly set to continue its upward rise to one of the top names in wine in Valle de Guadalupe and the world.
